Meet Mrs. Rehatchek

Palmerton Area High School has many amazingly dedicated and hardworking staff members,

but there is one in particular who sticks out even more than others. The assistant band Director, Mrs. Rehatchek, should be recognized for her unwavering commitment

over the years. This is her 9th year of involvement in Palmerton supporting us in many different ways, shapes, and forms.

Mrs. Rehatchek

She started her journey growing up in Palmerton, attending Palmerton Area High School and was an active member of the marching band for seven years. Six of those years were spent in the band front, and from sophomore to senior year, she led the band front as captain. As a senior in high school, she started her drill writing skills. Ever since Mr. Heinick, the former band director, asked Mrs. Rehatchek for her help, she’s been very involved with the band and the arts as a whole.

On top of her involvement in the band, she has trained as both a dancer and vocalist. She started training for dance at the age of eight and practiced in many different dance forms. She’s participated in multiple productions since 5th grade and has done 13 shows with the Mauch Chunk Opera House. She uses these abilities to understand music, and they help with

the band as well. She says, “Once you understand music, it can be applied in multiple ways.”

Mrs. Rehatchek also had a significant role in restoring the band at Palmerton. For her first few years, she volunteered by helping with the pep band and the first field show. She then worked

as the band front advisor for six years and is now three years into being the assistant band director. She founded PAMPA and served as president for six years and treasurer for two.

Not only does she help with the band, but she is also involved in other areas of the arts!

She began helping the drama club advisors during the play “The Sound of Music” and has created the choreography for the shows ever since. She’s taught everything from ballet to tap to jazz and has helped choreograph for the chorus shows as well. She has made herself an excellent volunteer and has helped with the various field trips the arts have gone on.

Mrs. Rehatchek’s specific duties include writing the field show for the band and working with

the band during rehearsal to teach and prepare for it. She also teaches and helps rehearse for performances and parades. She distributes the music to all the instrumentalists, helps the secretary with attendance, and handles all of the medical assistant duties and coordination with chaperones to make sure that they understand what to do. Furthermore, she works closely with the band director and advisors to make sure that everything that needs to get done, gets done. Amazingly, she still finds the time to go and support every single performance as well.

Outside of school, she has a big interest in history. She is a part of the Palmerton Historical

Society and strongly believes that learning the history of your town is a very important aspect of living. She is heavily involved in genealogy as well, which ties into her love for history. She also reads, volunteers, bakes, and sings for her church while being a wife and mother to two children who are very much involved with the arts themselves.

Mrs. Rehatchek says, “Music is a vital part of our lives.” and she couldn’t be more right. Music and the arts are a huge part of Palmerton Area High School and make up many of the greatest programs in our school. Mrs. Rehatchek's hard work, passion, and dedication are a huge part of why we have the arts today. Thank you, Mrs. Rehatcheck!
