In the hours leading up to Homecoming, not a Barbie was stirring, not even Mrs. Husar on the wall. The balloon arches were hung, and the Barbie boxes set in their place, in hopes that the students of Palmerton would soon be arriving. Homecoming 2023 was definitely a night to remember, as was the spirit week and festivities that followed.
Our spirit week included Frat Day, Surfers vs. Bikers Day, Decades Day, Be a Barbie Day, and Hoco T-Shirt Day/Pink out! While our students were dressed in their finest khaki shorts and ties on Frat Day, and Hawaiian shirts or leather jackets on Tuesday, members of Student Council were working hard on decorating their hallways. The seniors chose pink as their hallway color, juniors orange, sophomores black, and freshman blue. All four classes used many different materials to deck out their hallway in the designated color, whether it was
streamers, posters, balloons, lights, utensils, or even a life-size figure of Mrs. Husar, everyone was striving to have the best hallway. Each of the classes worked during Monday and Tuesday enrichments to decorate their hallways. Announced at the pep rally, it was voted that the senior class had the best hallway!
On Tuesday night, the annual Powderpuff game was held! Girls from the junior and senior class fought hard, but eventually the juniors won the battle, winning with a score of 21-14. For the seniors, Sydney Frantz and Cora Wentz scored, and for the juniors Ella Baumgardt, Nataly Walters, and Claire Thomas.

Our Homecoming Court each performed their own Barbie-style dances and skits, entertaining
the crowd with their creativity. During the pep rally, each class decorated their territories with posters, and competed for the spirit stick. After multiple sets of games and a battle of spirit, the seniors came out on top, taking control over the spirit stick!
The 2023 Homecoming Court consisted of Ty Sander and Madison Green, Jakob Hettler and Celeste Hoffman, Josh Rehatchek and Serenity Hamilton, Katie Heimbach and Dylan Picone, Logan Scheier and Maddie Everett, and Caydence Waterhouse and Matt Machalik. During the football game, the Homecoming court was announced, with Celeste Hoffman and Matt Machalik being crowned as our 2023 Homecoming King and Queen!

And the moment everyone was waiting for the entire week…the Homecoming dance! The
2024 Class Officers and Art Club members gathered together Saturday morning to set up the backdrops and decorations in preparation for the upcoming night! With the lobby filled with every shade of pink possible, we finished preparing and went to get ready for the night. At 7 PM, students arrived at the dance, ready for the Barbie World reveal. It truly was a great night for everyone, and many have quoted how they “wish they could relive it”.
This week of school is exciting for everyone, as it brings out our school spirit and motivates everyone to participate. Excitement buzzes through the hallways, plus you can hear the anticipation in students’ voices as they talk about their plans for Homecoming and what
color their dress or tie will be.
